  • December white space challenge

Welcome to a new challenge (the last one of 2017)!

But before I go in to that, I just want to get something of my chest real quickly.
I just want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
Never could I have imagined that so many of you would participate in my challenges and it has been so much fun!
Almost every day I check the challenge topic and I am amazed by all your gorgeous and funny and artistic layouts!
Thank you and I'm already looking forward to next year!!

    Now to the new challenge....

Last month we were all into black and this month we are going to make something " white" : a white space layout!

    Edit: MY fault!
I think I should explain what a "white space" layout means, because the name is a bit confusing. It should actually be called an "empty space" layout, which is a much better name. At least half to two thirds of your layout should be empty (or "white space", if you use a white background). It's the art of minimalism, or leaving out things, or giving your photo all the attention..
I hope that makes it a bit more clear...

When you see a white space layout, it always looks so easy, but let me tell you: IT'S NOT!
I don't know about you, but I am always adding stuff; a little flower here, a brush there, some paint, etcetera...

    So here's the recipe:

-1 solid background (can be white, but it doesn't have to be)
    - 1 photo
    - NO MORE than 8 different embellishments (including masks, paint, swirls, flowers, brads, etcetera), repetition of the same embellishment doesn't count
    - some wordart (no restriction)
    - try to leave open as much space as you can, by clustering your elements.

    Here's my page:

As always: have fun and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

    Sonja

You're right, it's not easy. But they can be so perfect. Love your example. I'll be thinking of something.

OK Ms. Sonja----I need a clarification. I am only using one photo, but I want to make two more copies of it to stack behind the first photo. You will only see a tiny bit of the copies sticking out. Would this be considered three photos, or because it is the same picture, would it be considered one photo???????

Hi,hi, yes, the term white space is somewhat confusing...empty space would be better...

I have one done ... will load it tomorrow!

My layout contains 5 elements + wordart with kit from Alexis Design Studio ALL THAT GLISTENS (leaves, branches, and 2 flowers repeated, frame and swirl) I love the sparkling touches on the leaves and branches, as well as on the edges of the one background paper (it was already there!)

Yes, me too, Anita! I'm always adding stuff to a layout, so this is an excellent way to practice minimalism! I love your beautiful layout and the way you clustered all the elements together. Beautiful words too!
Thank you so much for participating!
              Working...
