  • Filter Chal Dec - Radial Blur

Hi again!!! I'm back with another filter challenge!! I LOVED everything you all did last month, even though many of you do not use PSE. You grabbed ahold of the challenge and ran with it and I learned a lot about the other programs and what you can do with them. So, lets see what you all do this month with a filter called the Radial Blur Filter. With the radial blur in PSE 11, which I use, you can do mainly two things. You can create rays which is called the Radial Blur Zoom Lens or you can create a blurred background, among other things, using the Radial Blur Spin Lens.
Here I am showing you before and after photos using the two lenses and also layouts using the lenses. Although these are what most people use the lens for, there is so much more you can do, but there just isn't enough time to explain it all. So I hope you will search and study this interesting filter.

So----my first two layouts here show the use of the Zoom lens. I show you the before photo with no beams of sunlight and the after photo with the beams of sunlight. On my layout I wanted to show the beams of light coming from the opening in the cloud. I softened these with a blend and brought the opacity way down. In the original photo, there was no reflection and the water was very dark.

In my second two, I show a lily before using the spin lens and after using the lens. I didn't want anything else to show except for the water lily. I then used my altered lily photo in a layout.
Tomorrow I will be uploading my layout for the bingo challenge. Pay attention to the star on the tree where I used the Radial Blur, spin lens to create the glow on the star.

I had a hard time finding videos about the Radial Blur, but I did find this one. It doesn't give nearly as much information as I hoped it would, so all I can say is play around and experiment with the filter.

For those of you not using PSE, I hope you will explore the programs that you do use and see if there is anything that will either spin a background or create rays of light. Looking forward, as always, to seeing all your very creative layouts!!

Nancy, thank your for the Challenge ! I love the filter !
I use the filter more often to give photos something magical - I apply the Fitler on a copy of the photo below the unedited photo and then set the layer of the top photo to a different mode and reduce the opacity.
Then it looks a little bit radiant and magical

I really hope I have done this right Nancy. I used the radial blur filter in CraftArtist to the sky and water. I also added some sun rays using the zoom filter. I had to add some ducks just because I like them. Thank you so much for this awesome challenge. xxx

Usually use this filter to make papers.
