  • I really, really need ...

One of you smarties to make me an "app" ... back in the day we would make word documents where there would be blanks and we could fill in whatever we needed, was called a boilerplate ... so, this app would be like that ... it would reside on my computer, windows compatible, and when here @ Just Art when I needed to leave a comment (I'm trying here ... and I know some of y'all have worse conditions with your hands than me but ... what can I say ... I am very impatient with my physical limitations ... I know you'll find it hard to believe that I am impatient!) so anyway ... there I am in the comment section ... I hit some key that brings up this app and BAM ... a few words to type in to make it different and there ... I'm the new Queen of the comments!!!

Well, I'm not an app developer so I can't help with that.

Have you tried one of the speech recognition programs? Dad had one years ago, but I don't remember the name of it.

I did a google search and found this, it might be helpful: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ch-recognition

I really sympathies with you Evelyn. Wish I could help. All I know of is speech recognition software as Kim suggested. I have never tried it but I am tempted sometimes when my left hand stops working. I seem to spend more time correcting my typing errors than actually commenting. I hope someone can come up with a remedy for you. xxxx

The speech recognition like Kim said looks like it could help you. So frustrating, I can imagine how you feel....my mum had rheumatoid arthritis which made both her hands all gnarled and disfigured...she used to get so cross at not being able to do the simplest things.....hope you find something to help Evelyn!

I'm not an App expert either. I understand your frustration Evelyn. I hope someone can create an App for you. I am right-handed and have carpal tunnel in my right hand that affects my everyday activities, but it is not going to stop me from digital scrapbooking, or everyday life for that matter. I will keep pressing on.

Hi Karen! I am sorry to hear that you have it too. I have not done surgery yet. I have been using nutritional supplements from Terry Naturally to reduce the inflammation and it has been working well.

Eat an App-le a day, & maybe the App Dr will send one your way: L.O.L. My husband says if you learn the Computer Short Cut words, it should help in the meantime!!

Aw bless you! I'm not an app person (my mobile phone doesn't even take photos) so I can't help you I'm afraid but if it hurts some days, just click on like, I'm sure we all understand and know you might want to say more.

Sorry to hear you are having problems Evelyn, can't help you apart from suggesting copying a comment then just pasting. Not ideal but at least it saves typing xx

So sorry I can't help you. I have arthritis in both hands and both knees, It gets very difficult some days but I keep trying. This is the main reason that I had to stop paper scrapping, I could no longer do the cutting or any of the intricate things. Very frustrating so I completely understand. Some days using the mouse is even a problem. I have been trying to get into a specialist for several weeks but the earliest appointment is mid December. That's pretty frustrating too. I hope you find something to help you.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Anita, but I’m not sure that I can come up with any better ideas than those already posted! Smartphones and tablets usually offer predictive typing, but that means struggling with a small and fiddly keyboard. Having said that, there’s almost certainly an app out there which does the same thing for desktop and laptop computers; I have vague recollections of using a program like that decades ago (back in the days before they called them “apps”) and the technology has improved enormously since then.

                        Hi Evelyn

I don’t know what OS you use but Windows 10 has an inbuilt speech recognition programme which if this video is typical of how it works appears to be very good.

I was thinking that maybe you could use it to create a document with various comments ready to use on the forum. That would save you a lot of typing.

What I’m not sure of is whether you can verbally use the copy/paste command to post into the forum, but you could always copy/past manually which would still be a big saving on your hands.
Anyway this is just for your consideration and here is the link to the video I referenced…
