It is lovely to hear from you DeLoris, you have been through so much with your spine and then the Covid causing your lips to dry up and burn, I am so pleased you are feeling brighter, hopefully you wont have to wait to long for the nerve to be numbed, in time you will will get your yearly books done faster by not doing anymore challenges. I think sometimes we put to much pressure on our selves and find things get on top of us...

Thank you so much Robyn. You know, it was actually my mouth condition that made it easy to start my new way of eating. It hurt so bad to eat, I just didn't want to. I am determined NOT to be Diabetic. I'm not doing anything special for "weight loss". I don't eat bread, noodles, or pasta of any kind. No potatoes and I only eat berries for fruit. It is a 1/2 Adkins and 1/2 Keto way of eating. It's working! My sugar is not normal, but it is coming down. I truly really enjoy it and if I want to go out to eat with my friend, I do (just not often)! I just try to stay as low carb as I can. I don't count anything and eat what I want. I just don't want to each much anymore. I crave nothing! I am shocked! I was always a bread and pasta fanatic. There is nothing I can't have, if I make it keto (so many delicious recipes on You Tube). Have you ever tried Chaffles? They are my new best friend! There are tons of recipes for different kinds on You Tube and they are delicious! Ha! I'll make a page about Chaffles! LOL

Guess what? My doctor is thrilled! I've lost 25 lbs and my AIC is 5.4!!! Yeah!!! I am sooooo happy! I will continue eating the way I have been, so I don't become diabetic again!

Thank you soo very much! My doc and I are both thrilled!!! I took my blood sugar this morning and it was 99! Hasn't been that in months!

I had a "well check up" - Medicare pays for it once a year - on Tues. I'm good to go. Lost weight, guess the combo of Covid and then the teeth. Never put too much faith in their numbers since that scale is probably way off. Had to fill out papers with ridiculous questions. My poor PA, Barb - waiting for me to get finished. One question - recently have you thought about harming yourself or others? Now - really - I said to her - that is 2 questions ... no about harming myself and a BIG yes about harming others! She just said, get on with it Evelyn ... geesh!

I FORGOT - I now have gout in my left thumb ... OMGawd ... that joint at the base and the whole area has been sore for a couple of weeks (I forgot that too) - then Wed middle-of-the-night pain woke me up; then Thurs the OMG pain hit ... I wanted to chop off that hand! Called dr. office, poor Barb called me back ... she said since I've never been treated for gout I'd hafta come IN. Then she & I had a convo about that ... she called in a Rx ... I love her ... took 2 yesterday, dose is 3x a day ... the pain did not jolt me awake last night ... it did try but I had a convo with that gout stuff. Just gotta be stern

OMG! I hear that is sooo painful! I am glad the pills help some.

I know all about gout @Ev. I suffer in my toes, and fingers to a lesser extent. The last time I had a severe episode (towards the end of last year), I couldn't get shoes on at all for weeks, the pain was bad!! The doctor gave me steroids and that brought it under control - until next time. He wanted to get me on something more permanent, but I said no, let's see how bad it gets. I hate stuffing my body with what may or may not be unnecessary mediation, I already take three daily blood pressure tablets and that is just holding the blood pressure for now. I have extremely poor kidney function and am bordering on being a diabetic, so I just don't want to take more medication if it can be avoided........ there, that's my pity party story for the day! LOL

Oh My Goodness! I am so sorry Robyn. I hear so many horror stories about the pain of gout.

I believe gout is a very painful condition and those that suffer have unbearable pain, it was once claimed to be a rich man's disease due to drinking wine which is rubbish, hopefully one day treatment will be better.xx

@Robyn ~ talking about taking meds ... LOL ~ right now I'm on steroids for my unrelenting itching (today I start 1/4 pill for 4 days and then that's done ... cutting that small pill into quarters, OH Yeah - then antibiotic 2x day for the sinus infection which had gotten BAD for 10 days ... every 12 hrs ... OH Yeah - and now the capsule for gout 3x day ... normally all I take is 1 blood pressure pill !!! This ol brain is saying ~ What the hell is going on, Evelyn?

first 3 days the pain was greatly reduced but yesterday and today it's coming back - dr. said in 6 wks a blood test to measure the uric acid ... bet I call her before then

Just letting you all know I have my 6 monthly check up this afternoon with the specialist, I have an Xray first then he will look at it and see if all is well with the surgery he did on my back in November,I am still not allowed to bend, I am hoping he will say I can go on vacation again,my only worry is I cannot stand for a long time as I get a lot of discomfort, and the ques at the Airports here in the U.K are horrendous, my Sister in Law was waiting nearly 4 hours when she went 2 weeks ago,if we do get to go it will be around September for one weeks trial,I will update how I get on later today.
Just had a phone call appointment cancelled today, waiting for new appointment now.
I have a New Appointment for Thursday.

I was just reading through all the posts in this thread when it suddenly struck me that many are using this forum as if it's a personal journal or diary. I'm a bit turned off by this: what will we share next (the state & frequency of our bowel movements perhaps)?

I will stay away so I don't cause someone else (or myself) to get in a tizzy.
