Hi hoping somebody can help me with this as driving me nuts. I Transferred my craft artist software and kits to a external drive awhile ago in case I had a problem and last week I did. I ended up clearing everything off my pc by mistake all caused by me not remembering Passwords they are a pain lol. So thankfully i got most things back now Except I don't know what to do, when I BROUGHT MY CRAFT ARTIST BACK ACROSS TO MY PC . how do I open it up again as i can see the product key don't have a disc anymore I thought it would just open when I dragged it back ! Not technical minded and a bit thick lol I be so grateful for any help thanks in advance Cheesecake

I'm stumped on this Irene. I have not tried it myself because I have my originals. Did you extract the file before trying to use it for installation?

Last resort. Plug in the hard drive where you saved your CraftArtist program and try to open it from there. If you can not, then you have not saved the whole program, and so save your self a lot of frustration, and forget it.
You sometimes find CA disks for sale on EBay for a fiver. Perhaps that is worth a try. You can still use your own product key.....
Have you thought about trying another program ?
Photoshop elements is not that hard to learn..
Or my memories suite, or Affinity photo ?.
And stop calling yourself stupid..... These things happen, it is technology that is running away all by it self ,and a bugger to keep up with.
Good luck.

Hi Nemia and Diane Just want to Thank you both again for your HELP nearly went mad lol I am glad to say I got it back .I did what you suggested Nemia and went back to the old drive which I thought was gone forever and used my product key as well. Hi
My computer died recently....sad I know.
Got a new one, managed to save a lot , all except my Craft Artist. Put in the original purchased professional....ticked
around then nothing. Computer shop said not to try again as it could corrupt the computer?
On reading some of the other comments realised that Craft Artist is not in business anymore. Daft question, is there anyway I could purchased an updated version, use a different company that's similar to CA.
Hope someone can help
Thank you in advance
Lindy

Craft Artist was a product by Serif. Serif is still in business, but Craft Artist is no longer on sale. It's not been updated for the more recent computer operating systems. I would recommend looking at Serif's new products range: Affinity. Affinity Designer would be the best replacement for Craft Artist. They normally have a free trial offer. If there isn't one at the moment, contact them as a past customer and they'll give you one. I have all 3 Affinity programs (Designer, Photo and Publisher), and they are great.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply, I have signed for a free trail. Oh my gosh can't really make heads or tails of it.
Feels more like the system is more for professional graphic designers etc.
My husband has been a designer for for printing press machines to Nuclear parts, he was surprised how complicated it look.
I know it may seem easy for some people but having used computers and the Craft Artist for several years totally bamboozled me.

Gonna put a downer on things but I have Craftartist discs from start to finish.. Well digital scrapbook artist 2 to the last, had a book n all but not sure I can share.
Some amazing tuts by Lovemyzombie on YouTube for the early version of Craftartist... xxx : o(

@LindyB hi I just saw this now. Hope that you persevered and learned to get on with Affinity. There are lots of tutorials out there. But if not a friend of mine was in the same predicament and got My memories suite. It is similar to CA, but does less things,ex you can not build up your own shadows, and make your own stencils. But it seems to be a drop and drag system very similar to the earlier version of CA. Good luck

I've written a number of tutorials for scrapbooking with Affinity. They are in the Learning Pad section of the Lilypad forum. They include some getting started tutorials aimed at beginners.

Hi Irene, my computer is on its way out so I fear the same thing having to get an update Windows computer. I am glad Craft Artist works out for you. I am still able to use it at the moment. I have purchased Affinity Photo from Serif and like the program. It does take some getting used to. Here is their learning portal. https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/learn/. Thank you Angela. I will have to check out your learning tutorials over at the LilyPad. What page are the tutorials on? Angela, may I ask the reason why Affinity Designer is better for scrapbooking than Affinity Photo?

@Diane's Art Photo is more focussed on image editing (raster) and can do basic graphics. Designer is more focussed on the graphics (vector) and can do basic photo editing.
I started with Photo and and found it ok but later got designer and found it better for scrapbooking. However, if I was really smart (and remembered) I should really scrap in Publisher, if you own the entire suite it allows you to switch seamlessly between the features of all three pieces of software through Studiolink.
There are lots of articles comparing the two on the internet.

Craft Artist was a vector based software package, and Designer is too - so you will find it the better option as a replacement. I have the full suite and use publisher as my primary package and use designer or photo with it.
Most of my tutorials are for all 3 software packages.
