How do the sub/extra categories in the gallery work?

We now have sub-categories under the Monthly Challenges gallery. These categories are named for the individual challenges being offered.

I would ask you to upload FIRST to the MEMBERS' GALLERIES and then check/tick the additional categories, which would be MONTHLY CHALLENGES and then the SUB-CATEGORY of your choice.

It is only ever one image that is being uploaded. Any comments left will always be under that image. If you delete (or change) that page, it will be deleted from all categories. Best explained I think by this analogy........images that have been added to the additional categories are like mirrors; if you add 3 additional categories, it's like holding up 3 mirrors to the original upload.

If you click on the image in a sub-category gallery, it will always revert back to the original gallery to which you uploaded, so if you follow suggested upload procedure (as above) your image will always come back to the MEMBERS' GALLERIES page. If you originally uploaded to one of the sub-categories your image will always default to that gallery.

There are two sub-categories for challenges that do not fall into the regular monthly challenges. They are the Pop-up category, which is obviously for Pop-up challenges and there is also a Miscellaneous category. This would be for challenges that are being offered by the same host on a monthly basis, but the theme and idea for the challenge changes from month to month.

Thankyou Robyn for this explanation. I might add a link to this in the instructions for my challenges from now on.

I have been playing with this new feature and I have to say I really like it. Super easy to use and find layouts within the categories.

Only because, it wasn't clear to me at first, I thought I'd point out that the 2nd paragraph of Robyn's post, where she says "FIRST to the MEMBERS' GALLERIES", that that should be selected from the Gallery's top level page (left side of the screen, under NAVIGATION.
...and, the "check/tick the additional categories, which would be MONTHLY CHALLENGES and then the SUB-CATEGORY of your choice", would be done after you've uploaded/added your media/image, found at the bottom of the page (below the description).

@Robyn, I accidentally added my final progressive scrap page to the temporary gallery (forgot to go via the members' gallery ), so I went through edit and added the additional categories so it would also show in the top-level of the progressive scrap challenge gallery. Might there have been a better way to do this? Should I have deleted it then re-added into the member's gallery with ticks for the challenge gallery? Or is there a way to Move the original upload?

Rose, because you originally uploaded the image to the temporary gallery, that will always be its default home (as described in post #1 of this thread). As admin, I can move it but you can't (and I will do that now).

Apart from asking me to move it, your only other option would be to delete the image and upload again to the correct gallery.
