I can’t wait to follow this thread Robyn! I’m constantly reading and always looking for recommendations.
One of my favs: The Keeper of Happy Endings, Barbara Davis “A Little History. A Little Mystery. A Little Romance”

I am challenging myself a bit by reading "Barchester Towers" by Anthony Trollope. The 19th century style slows me down quite a bit and the actual book has very small print. But, I'm determined to soldier through it and I really am enjoying the wit and satire. :)

I LOVE (fairyly) lighthearted books right now. I've had enough of the "heavy" stuff that's going on in the world. Right now, I'm reading The Seven Day Switch by Kelly Harms on my Kindle e-reader. I thought, at first, it was "lighthearted" and I guess it kind of is, but there's a real message in it. These two women, who intensely dislike each other, wake up in the other's bodies and learn why the other woman does the things she does. It's kind of like "walk a mile in my shoes" or Freaky Friday. where the mother and daughter wake up in each other's bodies.

I'm at our shack and I always seem to do a lot more reading when I'm here.

I've read two books in the last three days.

The first one was The Other Woman by Sandie Jones. It wasn't a brilliant novel, but passable enough for me to want to finish it.

The second was Our Fathers by Rebecca Wait. I totally LOVED it. A beautifully written book that captured my attention from the very first page. Not everyone agrees with me though and I've included a link with some reviews.

Okay, confession time - I often (now) read more than one book at a time. It used to drive my mom nuts when I was a kid, but I'm still doing it. I'm also reading "Excuse Me While I Disappear - Tales of Midlife Mayhem", by Laurie Notaro. It's a laugh out loud kind of book.

was that the one you picked for the First Reads? If so, I am really bummed that I didn't get it when I could.
Just looking at the titles of her books, she seems like my kind of author ;)

I usually read more than one at a time too. I always have an ebook loaded on my phone for reading on the train and then usually a 'real' book by the side of my bed.

I'm currently reading The Great Library series by Rachel Caine. (It's fantasy)

If you see another one of her books on First Reads, yell at me until I download it LOLJA06
I definitely will - have you checked out the NEW January first-reads? We get two! I wasn't blown away by any of them, but, being greedy, I found two that sounded decent.

Hey, Chris - I THINK this "Excuse Me While I Disappear" by Laurie Notaro is still free on Kindle! Search it on Amazon e-books. I have Kindle Unlimited, but it might still be free for any Kindle e-book. Check it out. It still shows free on mine.

Which ones did you pick, @Cheryln?

Do any of you have Amazon Prime and do you know to get to pick a free book every month? First Reads
I didn't know until maybe a year ago and one thing I like is free ebooks :)
Thank you for sharing, Chris. I do have Prime. Another thing, most of the time when I order there's a little box I can check either to have something delivered a little later or combine orders and I get a discount on Kindle books. In a few days I'll get an e-mail telling me it's been applied and it's good for two months or so. And, in reality, the packages arrive more quickly than they say anyway. (They accumulate so I can often get a free book).

I just started a new book called Parallel by Ellie O’Roark. It’s free on KindleUn and it captured me with the first paragraph.

She knows things and doesn’t understand how she knows them. It kept me reading in bed for two hours last night (I usually get sleepy within 30 min). I had to force myself to put it down and go to sleep…lol
